Descriptions

PARK(ing) Day 2015 was a light-hearted urban intervention in collaboration with Narrow Marrow café, transforming two on-street parking bays within the George Town World Heritage Site into a temporary outdoor room. The one-day installation reimagined everyday urban space, inviting the public to pause, gather, and experience the street in a different way.

The design introduced simple, adaptable elements that extended the café’s presence into the public realm, blurring the boundary between private and shared space. Seating, planting, and spatial framing created a comfortable and engaging environment that encouraged interaction and conversation.

Although shortlisted as a finalist, the project was ultimately about participation and experimentation, demonstrating how small, temporary interventions can shift perceptions of urban space and highlight the value of people-centred design in the city.
