Descriptions

The Armenian Park project revitalises a 1.1 acre underutilised open space within the historic Armenian Enclave in George Town. As the first phase implemented under the George Town Strategic Master Plan, the project plays a catalytic role in reintroducing meaningful public space into the heritage core.

The design transforms the once neglected site into a welcoming urban park that supports everyday use while respecting its cultural surroundings. Open lawns, shaded seating areas, and carefully arranged landscape elements create a flexible environment for relaxation, informal gatherings, and community activities.

Material selection and spatial organisation are guided by the character of the surrounding heritage streetscape, ensuring that the park integrates seamlessly with its context. The introduction of greenery enhances comfort and improves the microclimate, while maintaining clear visibility and accessibility across the site.

Today, Armenian Park serves as an important civic space within the enclave, offering a place for both locals and visitors to pause, interact, and experience the layered identity of George Town in a simple and meaningful way.
